Plant Installation
 When Patrick Grant Designs Landscape Design and Build creates a landscape, the spatial characteristics are always considered to ensure that plant material relates positively to its surroundings. Does each plant fit with other nearby plant material, the architecture of the home, and the environment surrounding it? Each plant should also be placed in order to be healthy and develop to a mature specimen. It is also important that plant material does not become overcrowded a few years after installation. The individual characteristics of each plant is considered, sometimes subtle features such as bark texture, branching patterns, leaf shape and color to more showy aspects such as flowers, hedging and topiaries are part of the plant selection of any given design. The plants selected should provide beauty throughout the seasons.
Sometimes plant selection is used for function for screening, creation of shade and for enhancing bird and butterfly habitat, other times the plant material is used to create an overall effect or style of a garden.
