After contacting Patrick Grant Motel Landscape Design and Build, a meeting will be arranged at your convenience. At this initial meeting, you will be introduced to the features and benefits of a quality and custom landscape and learn the design/build process from start to finish.

Of course, there will also be a discussion with you about your landscaping needs. If a project involves new or substantially changed existing landscaping, a site plan is recommended to communicate the new plan to the client and assist with the project installation. Smaller scale projects may only require an estimate.
You will be given a Client Application, which consists of a detailed questionnaire to learn more about your specific wants and needs. You will also be given a Landscape Design Service Contract explaining exactly what we propose to furnish by way of a design and proposal, and the associated fees.

Discovery:
Our clients contact Patrick Grant Designs Landscape Design and Build because they are searching for someone with the proper training and experience in landscape design and installation. The goal is to solve your problems, and in the process create for you a wonderful environment in which to work and live.
The discovery phase of the landscaping process is crucial in order to determine exactly what you need and when you need it. The more that is communicated about your landscaping needs, the better chance the landscape design and proposal will make you happy and comfortable that the actual installation will bring real value to you and your family.

At your initial meeting Patrick Grant Designs Landscape Design and Build will listen to you and walk around your property with you to discover the scope of the project. Some preliminary ideas may be discussed with you. After the consultation you will have a questionnaire to complete prior to the next meeting. This “Client Application” will greatly assist in the completion of a successful landscape design tailored to you.
Once Patrick Grant Designs Landscape Design and Build has received your Client Application and signed Proposal For Landscape Design Services, you will be contacted to set up another meeting. At this meeting, a review of your questionnaire and discussion about your landscaping wants and needs will happen. Finally, the site will be measured and photographs taken so that the landscape design can begin.

 Landscape Design is a visual art. Utilizing the principles of art – repetition, variety, balance, emphasis, sequence and scale – a landscape designer creates a landscape that will perform at its best. While seeking to meet the needs and tastes of people, a professional landscape design uses a variety of materials, including stone, wood, cement water, light and, of course, plants. The goal of every design and installation is to apply these principles to create a pleasing outdoor composition.

Approval
In addition to the actual landscape design, a formal proposal will be compiled. The proposal will include an exact plant and materials list, along with the price to complete the job. Many times proposals are broken down into installation or project phases. One set of alterations of the landscape design and proposal can be made at no additional charge. Once a proposal is signed, and a deposit received, your project will be placed on our installation schedule.

Landscape installation:
 A great design is only as good as its installation. There are several factors that result in a quality landscape installation.
SITE PREPARATION: A great landscape begins with preparation of the planting beds. After site analysis and soil testing, the soil will be amended for proper pH balance and drainage problems corrected.
QUALITY PLANT MATERIALS: Patrick Grant Designs Landscape Design and Build works with nurseries and suppliers of choice plant materials. Only plants that grow well in USDA hardiness Zones 4-5 are recommended [ see USDA Hardiness Zone Map ]. All trees and shrubs are guaranteed for one year.
PROPER INSTALLATION: Having both the education and training to plant trees, shrubs and perennials the correct way. Patrick Grant Designs Landscape Design and Build takes the extra time to remove metal baskets and nylon string from trees to prevent future root damage. Special attention is given to preventing soil compaction during the planting process.

You are now the owner of a beautiful landscape, and our relationship has just begun. Once the landscape project is complete, a final meeting will be scheduled to review the project with you.
WARRANTY: Patrick Grant Designs Landscape Design and Build warranties all trees and shrubs for a period of one year.
PLANT CARE: After every landscape project is completed, Patrick Grant Designs Landscape Design and Build will provide you with a detailed Plant Care information packet. This information will discuss the basics of plant care such as pruning, watering, fertilizing, etc. for each plant installed.
MAINTENANCE: Of course, all landscapes and gardens will require regular maintenance to ensure proper plant health and beauty. Patrick Grant Designs Landscape Design and Build provides a full range of landscape and garden maintenance services.
